MEMPHIS - Memphis outscored the Christian Brothers University women's basketball team 35-25 and held on for a 71-61 victory, in exhibition action, on Wednesday night at Elma Roane Fieldhouse. The contest marked the first game for new CBU head coach

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the opening stages Memphis took a 5-0 lead, but the Lady Bucs answered with a 7-0 run to take an 8-7 lead with 5:49 left in the first quarter.
- The Tigers outscored CBU 10-5 over the final 4:48 to take a 20-15 lead after the first quarter.
- Memphis held the Lady Bucs to just two field goals over the final 4:10 to take a 35-25 lead into halftime.
- CBU finished the opening 20 minutes 8-of-28 (28.6 percent) from the floor, while the Tigers were 12-for-36 (33.3 percent).
- In the first 20 minutes, the Tigers scored 13 points off 17 CBU miscues.
- Brynne Lytle led all scorers with 12 first half points.
- In the third quarter CBU had chances to cut the lead to five, but the Tigers ended the quarter on an 8-4 spurt to take a 51-39 lead into the final quarter.
- The Lady Bucs finished strong, outscoring Memphis 22-20 in the final quarter.
KEY STATS:
- The Tigers scored 23 points off 24 CBU miscues.
- Memphis finished the game with a slim 52-46 edge on the glass.
- Lytle led all scorers with 29 points. Lauren Taylor finished with 8 points and 11 rebounds. Darcy Doran had 8 points, five rebounds and 3 assists.
- The Lady Bucs shot 30 percent (21-70) for the game, including 6-for-19 (21 percent) from three-point range. Memphis was 25-of-70 (36 percent), but hit just 1-of-15 from long-range.
- Memphis converted 20-of-32 from the free throw stripe, compared to 13-of-17 for CBU.
