CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Christian Brothers University women's basketball team trailed by as many as 11 points, but saw its comeback effort just short in a 76-71 setback to Cedarville, on Saturday at Callan Athletic Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The hosts led by as many as 11 points (18-11) with 1:52 left in the first quarter, but CBU responded with an 8-1 run to end the period down 19-12.
- CBU cut the lead to 27-26, with 4:49 left in the half, on a three point play by Mackenzie Lane but the Yellow Jackets made a three point basket to lead 35-30 at the break.
- The third period belonged to Cedarville, as it outscored the Lady Bucs 20-16 to take a 55-46 lead into the final quarter.
- After a made jump shot by the Yellowjackets pushed the deficit to 57-46, CBU responded with a 10-1 run over the next two minutes.
- Cedarville went on a run of its on to make the score 68-61, with 3:31 left.
- CBU cut the lead to 68-66 with 1:58 left, but the hosts converted their free throws down the stretch to hold on to the lead.
KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
- The Lady Bucs finished 38 percent from the floor (22-of-58), while the hosts shot 41 (25-for-61).
- CBU finished with a big 47-35 advantage on the boards.
- Brynne Lytle led CBU with 21 points, five rebounds and five assists. Taylor Williams added a career-high 20 points in 40 minutes of action.
- In just her second official game Darcy Doran had nine points and nine rebounds.

The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Friday, Nov. 22 when they travel to Murray State for an exhibition matchup. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
