Cedarville Holds on to Defeat Lady Bucs

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Christian Brothers University women's basketball team trailed by as many as 11 points, but saw its comeback effort just short in a 76-71 setback to Cedarville, on Saturday at Callan Athletic Center. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The hosts led by as many as 11 points (18-11) with 1:52 left in the first quarter, but CBU responded with an 8-1 run to end the period down 19-12.
  • CBU cut the lead to 27-26, with 4:49 left in the half, on a three point play by Mackenzie Lane but the Yellow Jackets made a three point basket to lead 35-30 at the break.
  • The third period belonged to Cedarville, as it outscored the Lady Bucs 20-16 to take a 55-46 lead into the final quarter. 
  • After a made jump shot by the Yellowjackets pushed the deficit to 57-46, CBU responded with a 10-1 run over the next two minutes. 
  • Cedarville went on a run of its on to make the score 68-61, with 3:31 left. 
  • CBU cut the lead to 68-66 with 1:58 left, but the hosts converted their free throws down the stretch to hold on to the lead. 
KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
  • The Lady Bucs finished 38 percent from the floor (22-of-58), while the hosts shot 41 (25-for-61).
  • CBU finished with a big 47-35 advantage on the boards. 
  • Brynne Lytle led CBU with 21 points, five rebounds and five assists. Taylor Williams added a career-high 20 points in 40 minutes of action. 
  • In just her second official game Darcy Doran had nine points and nine rebounds. 

UP NEXT:

The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Friday, Nov. 22 when they travel to Murray State for an exhibition matchup. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
