Bucs Use Second Half Run to Surge Past Freed-Hardeman

HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Christian Brothers University men's basketball team used a 13-0 second half run, and saw Nick Deifel score a career-high 25 points, in a 81-68 victory over Freed-Hardeman on Tuesday at the FHU Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The hosts held a 17-12 lead at the 10:44 mark of the first half, but CBU evened the contest at 32 before halftime. 
  • CBU shot 39 percent in the first half, and held the Lions to just 33.
  • After FHU pulled to within 55-53, with 10:17 left, the Bucs went on a 13-0 run to take control of the game. 
  • The Bucs did not allow the Lions to get to within nine points the rest of the contest. 

KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
  • Deifel scored a career-high 25 points in the contest, including 18 in the second half. The Cincinnati native tied for a game-high with eight rebounds. 
  • The Bucs made a season high 10 three point baskets on 20 attempts. CBU also pulled down a season high in rebounds, as it dominated the glass 50-28.
  • Malik Jones also added a career-high with 12 points. 
  • The 81 points are the most by a CBU team in the last nine games. 
UP NEXT:
  • The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, Nov. 23 when they host Valdosta State to open Gulf South Conference play. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
