MEMPHIS - Visiting Mississippi College outscored the Christian Brothers University women's basketball team 45-31 in the first half in a 77-62 victory, in Gulf South Conference action, on Sunday at Canale Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a back and forth first five minutes, that saw the game tied at 11, the Lady Choctaws finished the quarter on an 18-8 run to take a 29-19 lead.
- MC shot 11-of-20 in the first quarter, including 5-for-8 from long range.
- The scoring slowed down in the second quarter, but MC held off the Lady Bucs to take a 45-31 lead into halftime.
- CBU was just 13-for-34 from the floor in the first half and made just one three point shot in nine attempts.
- The Lady Bucs cut the lead to 53-45 with 50 seconds left in the third, but the visitors scored the last five points to take a 58-45 lead into the final quarter.
- MC led by as many as 20 points in the final quarter, outscoring CBU 19-17 to finish the scoring.
KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
- MC finished the game 29-of-66 from the floor. The Lady Choctaws helped their cause by going 13-of-16 from the free throw stripe.
- CBU was 25-for-64 from the field, and converted just two of its 18 three point attempts.
- MC converted 21 CBU turnovers into 21 points.
- Union outscored the Lady Bucs 40-22 in the paint.
