Bucs Push Through Adversity, Best Union

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Despite a change in venue due to arena leaks, the Christian Brothers University men's basketball team triumphed over Union University, 89-74, in Mallory Gymnasium on Rhodes College's campus Monday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • CBU jumped on top of Union early, with Adam Dieball scoring the game's first two buckets. Dieball scored CBU's first 11 points and the Bucs took a 13-8 lead going into the first time out.
  • Union managed to knock things back down to two, but a 9-0 Bucs run punched things out to 31-20 lead with 8:10 remaining in the first half.
  • CBU had the final bucket of the first half, as freshman guard Aiden Ruthsatz picked Unions pocket for a steal and flashing left-hand finish to put CBU up 49-40 at half.
  • Out of the break, the Bulldogs tried to make it interesting, but CBU again got on a roll offensively, going on a 14-1 run, capped off by a Luke Rudy layup to put the Bucs up by 18.
  • The Bulldogs were never able to cut the lead below double-digits.
KEY STATS:
