MEMPHIS, Tennessee- Multiple scoring runs for the No. 7 Union University Lady Bulldogs helped them to a 80-67 victory over Christian Brothers University Monday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Union (23-1, 15-1 GSC) started off strong, as they scored the first three baskets of the game. Brynne Lytle broke up the run with a layup, but Union ended the first quarter with a three point lead (23-20).
- The second quarter was all Union's. They were able to push their lead to double-digits (46-36) going into half, as they outscored the Lady Bucs (9-12, 6-10) 23-16.
- CBU made a run for the lead in the third quarter, as Lytle (9 points) helped the Lady Bucs narrow the deficit to single digits (60-53).
- Three Sarah Owen's free throws, with eight minutes remaining in the game, brought the Lady Bucs within three points from the lead, but the Lady Bulldogs pulled away from this point forward to close out their 80-67 win.
KEY STATS:
- Lytle had herself a game, tallying 26 points, while shooting 50 percent from the field, while also tallying five rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
- Kenzie Jones was one rebound away from a double-double. She finished the game with 13 points and, a game-leading, nine rebounds.
- Makayla Enochs finished the game with 13 points.
