Lady Bucs Top Montevallo for Senior Day Victory

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – In the final regular season home-game of the year, the Christian Brothers University women's basketball honored four seniors in a 92-91 nail-biting win over Montevallo in Canale Arena on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • As has been the case the last few games, the Lady Bucs (10-13, 7-11 GSC) started out scorching the basket, scoring the game's first 12 points and eventually claiming a 20-6 lead over Montevallo (11-14, 7-10 GSC) with 5:04 in the first quarter.
  • While the Falcon's offense did start to get going, Kenzie Jones banged home a three-pointer with 27 seconds left, to give the Lady Bucs a 29-14 lead just before the end of the quarter.
  • Montevallo took control in the second quarter. After five quick points from the Lady Bucs to start the quarter, the Falcons outscored the Lady Bucs 36-15 to take a two point lead into half time.
  • Neither team was able to create separation in the third quarter, as each team scored 21 points. The Lady Bucs managed to get 10 points in the paint during the quarter to go with two three-pointers.
  • Things looked shaky for CBU in the fourth quarter, as Montevallo took an eight point lead with 5:41 remaining in the game following an 8-2 run. Credit the Lady Bucs' solution, as they responded with a 14-2 run over the next four minutes, essentially securing the win.
KEY STATS:
  • Despite it being senior day, Junior guard Brynne Lytle stole the show, scoring 29 points on 9-of-16 shooting. Lytle also had five steals, three rebounds, and three assists.
  • Senior guard, Kenzie Jones, closed her career at Canale Arena on an extremely positive note, posting 21 points, six rebounds and three assists.
