Timely Hitting Helps West Florida Top Lady Bucs

PENSACOLA, Florida – West Florida collected 10 hits, including five for extra bases, in a 9-1 (6) win over the Christian Brothers University softball team, on Sunday at the UWF Softball Complex. With the win, UWF earned a three-game series sweep.
 
 
FINAL SCORE: West Florida 9 (13-1, 3-0 GSC), CBU 1 (3-9, 0-3 GSC) (6)
 
GAME CHANGER:
- Leading 4-1 in the fourth inning, UWF put the game away with four more runs. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- UWF outhit the Lady Bucs 10-5.
- Kendall Westbrooks led the Lady Bucs, going 2-for-2 with an RBI.
- Sierra Anderson (1-2) allowed six runs, five earned, on six hits in three innings.
- Mackenzie Puckett and Macy Cumming combined for 2.1 innings of relief.
- UWF starting pitcher, Tori Perkins, struck out eight batters.


KEY PLAYS:
- CBU threatened in the top of the first, loading the bases without a hit, but Perkins got forced two straight outs to end the threat.
- UWF took advantage of a CBU miscue to take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
- The Lady Bucs cut the deficit to 2-1 in the third on an RBI single by Westbrooks.
- UWF responded with a two run home run, in the bottom of the inning, making the score 4-1.
- The Argos put the game away with four runs in the fourth, and ended the game with a run in the sixth.


NOTEWORTHY:
- Westbrooks has recorded an RBI in six straight games.

- The Lady Bucs are scheduled to travel to Blue Mountain (Miss.), on Wednesday, Feb. 20, for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
