Memphis – The Christian Brothers University softball team scored 30 runs and pounded out 30 hits in a doubleheader sweep of LeMoyne-Owen College, on Wednesday at Bland Field. CBU took the opener 17-1, before finishing the sweep with a 13-0 win in game two. CBU pitchers allowed just one hit in each game. This marked the first home games of the season for the Lady Bucs.

GAME CHANGER:
- CBU took control in the opening frame, scoring eight runs.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- CBU outhit the Magicians 18-1.

Katelyn Cherry drove in three runs apiece to lead CBU. Dyer and Kendall
Westbrooks also homered, in the game.

Maddi Welch and Westbrooks collected three hits each.

Macy Cumming (1-1) allowed just one hit, with five strikeouts and three walks, in three

KEY PLAYS:
- CBU exploded for eight runs, on hit hits, in the bottom of the first.
- Six of the hits in the first inning were singles. Westbrooks two-run shot made the score 3-0, and
a two-RBI double by Welch made it 8-0.
- CBU added five more runs in the second inning that was highlighted by a pinch-hit two-RBI
single by
Shelby Crocker.
- The Lady Bucs finished the scoring, adding two runs in the third and fourth innings.
NOTEWORTHY:
- The 18 hits are the second-highest total for CBU this season (Bellarmine 2.10).
- The 17 runs are the most for CBU since scoring 29 against LeMoyne-Owen in 2015.
- Dyer's home run is the first of her collegiate career.
- The three RBIs for Welch tied a career-high.
- The 11 strikeouts are the most for CBU pitchers this season.

KEY PLAYS:
- CBU opened the scoring with three runs in the second, two of which came on an RBI single by
Dyer.
- The Lady Bucs added two runs in the third on RBI singles by Ferreira and Sanders, before
finishing the scoring with eight in the fourth.
NOTEWORTHY:
- The seven strikeouts by Whitley are the most by a CBU pitcher this season.
- Dyer has five triples in just 17 games. Her five triples are tied for the most in the GSC, and
currently rank fifth in CBU single season history. The freshman also leads the team with six
multi-hit games and five games with multiple RBIs. She has also reached base in 14 straight
contests.
NEXT TIME OUT:
- The Lady Bucs are scheduled to open the home portion of their GSC schedule on Friday,
March 1 when they host Alabama Huntsville. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. The series was
originally scheduled for Saturday, March 2nd and Sunday, March 3, but was moved due to the threat of inclement weather.
