ARKADELPHIA, Ark. -- The Christian Brothers University softball team fell 9-0 (5) to Drury and was unable to complete a comeback in an 8-4 loss to Rogers State, on Sunday, to close on the Ronnie Hawkins Invitational.
GAME 1: Drury 9 (2-1), CBU 0 (0-3)

- Drury opened the contest by scoring seven runs, sending 11 batters to the plate, in the top of the first inning.

- RSU finished the game with an 11-9 edge in hits.

Rachel Whitley and
Kaitlin Bowers led CBU with two hits apiece.
- Seven different players finished with a hit for the Lady Bucs.
- Puckett (0-1) took the loss, allowing five runs, on four hits, in 1.1 innings. Puckett was one of four pitchers used by the Lady Bucs.
- RSU pitchers combined to strikeout seven CBU batters.
KEY PLAYS:
- The Hillcats capitalized on a two-RBI single in the first, and a pair of home runs in the second to take a 5-0 lead.
- The Lady Bucs responded in the third, using RBI singles by Anderson and
Abby Ferreira.
- CBU got to within 5-3, in the top of the fourth, on an RBI groundout by Welch.
- RSU answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, using a run-scoring single and a two-RBI double.
- The Lady Bucs scored the final run of the game in the sixth off an RBI groundout by Bowers.
- OBU scored the game-winner on a walk-off double in the eighth.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Welch failed to record a hit for the first time this season.
- Bowers opened her collegiate career with five hits in nine at-bats.
- Maci Cumming, who struck out two batters in two innings of relief, has struck out five batters in five innings.
