Lady Bucs fall to Delta State on the Road

CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Christian Brothers University women's basketball team lost to the Delta State Lady Statesmen 83-54 on the road Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Things got off to a rough start, as Delta State (14-8, 9-6 GSC) scored the first three baskets. Kenzie Jones broke up the run with a three-pointer, but Delta State took a 15-9 lead going into the second quarter.
  • The second quarter did not fare any better for the Lady Bucs (9-11, 6-9 GSC), as the Lady Statesmen took a 39-20 lead going into half.
  • The Lady Bucs got more scoring production in the second half, but still only managed 11 points in the third quarter.
  • In the final frame, the Lady Bucs were able to string together a couple of runs. However, it was too little too late.
KEY STATS:
  • Only six Lady Bucs recorded minutes tonight, and every single player logged at least 27 minutes. Kenize Jones led all Lady Bucs with 39 minutes, scoring 12 points and recording five steals.
  • Brynne Lytle led all CBU scorers with 25 points on 45 percent shooting from the field. Lytle also played 38 minutes.

  • The Lady Bucs return to the friendly confines of Canale Arena on Monday to face Union. First-tip is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
