VALDOSTA, Ga. – Outhitting the Lady Bucs 20-5 between two games, the No. 19 ranked Valdosta State Blazers swept a Saturday doubleheader over the CBU Lady Bucs softball team, 8-0 in five innings in game one and 14-1 in game two in Georgia.
GAME ONE: Valdosta State 8 (28-12, 11-10 GSC), CBU 0 (9-31, 1-20 GSC) (5)
GAME CHANGER:
- VSU blasted a three-run home run in the fourth inning to put the Blazers up 7-0 and out of reach.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Blazers plated a run in every inning except the second.

Marquisha Sanders (1-for-2) and Maddi Welch (1-for-2) recorded the Lady Bucs only hits.
- Blazers starting pitcher Kasie Johnson threw a complete game shutout, striking out seven batters.

Sierra Anderson took the loss, allowing six earned runs, on eight hits, in four innings of work.
KEY PLAYS:
- Valdosta State plated a run in the bottom of the first off a single up the middle. The Blazers plated two more runs in the third on a throwing error and a sacrifice fly to take a 3-0 lead.
- The fourth inning featured four runs for VSU featuring a three-run shot and an infield single.
GAME TWO: Valdosta State 14 (29-12, 12-10 GSC), CBU 1 (9-32, 1-21 GSC) (5)
GAME CHANGER:
- Despite entering the frame down a run, the Blazers exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Like in game one, Sanders and Welch each went 1-for-2. Sanders scored the Lady Bucs only run of the day in the first inning.

KEY PLAYS:
- The Lady Bucs opened the game with three consecutive hits, including a double from Sanders. However, the Blazers pitching adjusted quickly and responded with three straight strikeouts.
- Eleven batters saw the plate for VSU in the bottom of the first, and the Blazers scored seven runs off four hits, two home runs, and four walks.
- Seven more runs came in the second and third to give the Blazers control for the win.
