Auburn Montgomery Uses Strong Pitching to Sweep Lady Bucs

MEMPHIS –  Auburn Montgomery pitchers allowed just three hits, over two games, in a doubleheader sweep of the Christian Brothers University softball team, on Saturday at Bland Field. AUM took the opener 11-0 (5) and did not allow a hit in a 7-0 victory in the nightcap. 
 
Before the second game, CBU honored four-year seniors Abby Ferreira, Maddi Welch and Sierra Anderson
 
GAME ONE:  Auburn Montgomery 11 (38-11, 16-9 GSC), CBU 0 (10-35 1-23 GSC) (5)
 
GAME CHANGER:
- In the fourth AUM scored eight runs, taking advantage of a pair of home runs and two singles. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- AUM finished the game with a 13-3 advantage in hits.
- Mackenzie Puckett, Kendall Westbrooks and Katelyn Cherry recorded hits for CBU.
- Starting pitcher Sierra Anderson took the loss. 

KEY PLAYS:
- The Warhawks opened the scoring, in the top of the first, on a three-run home run by Michaelyn Foster  
- With AUM leading 5-0, in the fourth, the Warhawks hit a pair of home runs, a double and two singles to take a 10-0 lead.  
- In the fifth, AUM finished the scoring on a hit by pitch with the bases loaded. 
 
 
GAME TWO: Auburn Montgomery 7 (39-11, 17-9 GSC), CBU 0 (10-36 1-24 GSC)
 
GAME CHANGER:
- AUM starting pitcher Natalie Johnsey did not allow a base runner until the fifth inning and did not give up a hit. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Warhawks finished the game with eight hits..
- Johnsey struck out seven batters. 
- CBU pitchers combined for eight walks and four hit by pitch. 
 

KEY PLAYS:
- AUM started strong, again in game two, taking advantage of four walks and two hit by pitch to take a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the first.   
- The Warhawks added single runs in the second, fourth and seventh innings.    
 

UP NEXT:
- The Lady Bucs are scheduled to wrap up their season with a three game series at in-state rival Union. The teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday April 27 at 1 p.m. and a
  single game the next day at 2 p.m.
