Wildcats Defeat Bucs in Home Opener

Memphis - The Christian Brothers University Bucs and Bethel Wildcats went into halftime knotted up at 1-1, but the Wildcats pulled away in the second half to claim the 3-1 victory Wednesday evening at Signaigo Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Both teams were scoreless through the first 20 minutes of the match, but Bethel's Michael Nwafor netted the first goal in the 21st minute to give the Wildcats the 1-0 lead.
  • James Raptis boomed a corner kick, in the 30th minute, perfectly to Maxi Galizzi as he headed the cross into the back of the net to tie things up at 1-1.
  • In the 61st minute, Michael Nwafor scored his second goal of the contest to push the Wildcats to a 2-1 lead.
  •  Caleb Tammi was fouled in the box, in the 80th minute, which allowed the Bucs to attempt a penalty kick, which would bring the score back even. Galizzi lined up to take the PK and missed just left.
  • In a last ditch effort, the Bucs pulled Viktor Hoestbo out of goal, but it led to the Wildcats netting their third goal of the contest in the 90th minute (3-1).
