COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs and the Saint Leo Lions finished the first half tied at one. Both teams were scoreless in the second half with the match having looks of going to overtime, but freshman
Hannah Ward played some late game heroics and made the Lady Bucs 2-1 winners as she netted the game-winning goal in the 89th minute.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Lions got on the board first as they knocked in the leading goal in the 24th minute.
- Bailey Tadlock canceled out the first score of the game when she netted herself a goal to tie things up at 1-1, in the 35th minute.
- Riley Chafin kept the scored knotted up at 1-1 throughout the second half as she recorded three saves in the second half alone.
- Freshman Ward sent the Lady Bucs home happy as she scored the game-winning, unassisted goal in the 89th minute.
KEY STATS:
- Ward recorded her third goal of the season and is tied for the GSC lead in goals thus far. She also recorded her second game-winning goal of the season, which is a GSC best.
- Chafin finished the match with six saves.
