BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After helping lead the Christian Brothers University men's golf team to a runner-up finish at the Don Morris Invitational,
Daniel Maybee and
Harry Brown were honored by the Gulf South Conference, on Thursday.
Maybee was named Men's Golfer of the Week after firing a +2 (146) to earn individual medalist honors. It was the second straight individual win for Maybee, who also claimed the CBU Buccaneer Invitational in the final tournament of 2019.
"The team and I have put in a lot of hard work," said Maybee. "I am honored to have received this award,"
Brown earned Freshman of the Week honors, as he finished +7 (151) in his collegiate debut. "I am incredibly thankful to be named GSC Freshman of the Week, especially in my first tournament in the United States," said Brown. "I cant wait to get back on the course for our next tournament!"
This marks the first time since the awards were created, in 2014, that CBU players have earned the honors.
"I am very proud of these two young men," said Head Coach
Michael Brice. "Daniel and Harry work incredibly hard, and have something inside that makes them special players."
Maybee, Brown, and the Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Sunday, Nov. 1 when they travel to Calera, Ala., for the Full Moon BBQ Invitational.
