No. 15 Union Pulls Away From Lady Bucs

JACKSON, Tenn.- No. 15 Union outscored the Christian Brothers University women's basketball team 45-31 in the second half, in an 82-70 victory, on Saturday afternoon, at Fred DeLay Gymnasium. 

CBU led the game 39-37 at the half.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The first quarter was all Union as it lead CBU 15-3 with 5 minutes left. CBU then found its groove, outscoring the hosts 14-4 to close out the quarter.  
  • Union led 31-19, with 6:28 left in the second quarter, but CBU responded with an 18-6 run to close out the half. 
  • The second half was all Union, as it outscored CBU 45-31. 
  • Union had a 60-55 lead after three quarters. 
  • Union outscored the Lady Bucs 22-15 in the final quarter, taking advantage of 14 free throws. 

KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
  • The Lady Bucs finished the game 25-of-69 (36 percent) from the floor, and were 15-of-36 (42 percent) from long range. 
  • CBU hit 5-of-7 (71 percent) from the free throw line. 
  • Union was 25-of-57 (44 percent) from the field, including 14-for-33 (42 percent) from beyond the three-point line. 
  • The Lady Bucs finished the game with a 22-14 advantage in bench points. 
  • Brynne Lytle finished with a game-high 23 points with seven rebounds. 
  • Emily Jones finished the game second in points with 22, while going 5-of-8 from three-point range. She also tallied seven rebounds. In her first two collegiate contests, Jones averaged 16 points and 10.5 rebounds. 
  • Cal Poly transfer Anna Ehala  finished with a career-high 10 points. Freshman Isabella Jones added nine points and a team high eight boards.
