Lady Bucs Hold Off West Alabama to Earn Conference Road Win

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The Christian Brothers University women's basketball team lead by as many as 19 points, and held off a late rally to earn a 66-65 victory over West Alabama, on Thursday, at Pruitt Hall. 

With the victory, the Lady Bucs swept the season series with West Alabama.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Lady Bucs raced out to an 18-4 lead in the first 5:19 of the contest. 
  • UWA used a pair of free throws to cut the gap to 22-10, after the first quarter. 
  • CBU got a jumper from Sydney Wilson, with 4:43 left in the half, to take a commanding 33-14 lead. 
  • The Tigers responded, outscoring the Lady Bucs 10-4 to cut the lead to 37-24 at the half. 
  • UWA owned the third quarter, outscoring CBU 26-16 to make it a 53-50 game going into the final quarter. 
  • The Lady Bucs pushed the lead back to six, but the Tigers went on a 9-2 run to give them a 63-61 advantage, with 2:29 left. 
  • As she has done many times this season, Brynne Lytle knocked down a big three pointer to give CBU a 64-63 lead, with 1:37 left. 
  • After the Tigers knocked down a pair of free throws, Lauren Taylor hit what proved to be the game winning layup, with just 23 seconds remaining. 
  • CBU forced a traveling violation with four seconds left to finish the game. 

KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
  • The Lady Bucs have matched their most road wins (6) since 2013-14.
  • CBU finished 25-of-61 from the floor (41 percent), but was just 6-for-22 (27 percent) from long range.
  • The Tigers ended the game 27-of-65 (41 percent), but were held to a measly 1-for-16 (six percent) from three point range.
  • UWA owned the glass, 45-32.
  • Brynne Lytle finished with a game-high 23 points, while Lauren Taylor added 14.
  • Taylor Williams finished the game with 12 points, six rebounds and five assists. She did not have a turnover. 
  • The 11 turnovers for CBU were a season low.
