MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Less than 24 hours after allowing 19 runs and 22 hits in a doubleheader sweep, the Christian Brothers University softball team fought back to earn a 2-1 victory over Auburn Montgomery, on Sunday, at the AUM Softball Complex.
The victory over AUM is the first for CBU since the Warhawks joined NCAA Division II as a provisional member (2017).
FINAL SCORE: CBU 2 (4-7, 1-2 GSC), AUM 1 (7-2, 2-1 GSC)
GAME CHANGER:
- The Lady Bucs had two of their three hits and scored both runs in the sixth inning.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- AUM finished with a 7-3 advantage in hits.
- The Warhawks comitted three errors, while CBU had one.

Mackenzie Puckett drove in the runs for CBU.

McKenna Rose went the distance for the Lady Bucs, allowing one run, on seven hits, with just one walk.
KEY PLAYS:
- The Warhawks picked up where they left off on Saturday, plating a run in the bottom of the first on
an RBI triple.
- AUM left runners stranded four each of the next four innings.
- In the fifth, CBU took advantage of a pair of errors, but left the bases loaded.
- CBU scored its first run when
Bree Brady singled through the left side, scoring
Memory Willingham.
- The Lady Bucs plated what proved to be the game winning run when AUM dropped a fly ball, by
Mackenzie Puckett that plated
Kendall Westbrooks.
- Rose allowed just one base runner over the final two innings to hold on for the win.
