COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Christian Brothers University softball team scored 21 runs and pounded out 24 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Mississippi University for Women, on Wednesday, at Don Usher Softball Field.
The Lady Bucs claimed the opener 11-3 (5) and finished the sweep with a 10-1 (5) win in the nightcap.
GAME ONE: CBU 11 (7-8), MUW 3 (6-3) (5)
GAME CHANGER:
- In the third CBU scored five runs, taking advantage of six hits, two errors, a walk and a stolen base.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- CBU finished with a 14-5 advantage in hits.
- Six different CBU players recorded multiple hits.
- Ashley Dyer led the way, going 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs.
- Elaina McGIll, Bree Brady, Mackenzie Puckett, Kendall Westbrooks, and Savannah Crockett all had two hits apiece.
- Puckett also had a double and drove in three runs.
- Starting pitcher Macy Cumming allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits in four innings.
KEY PLAYS:
- CBU jumped on top 3-0 in the top of the first, using a double by Memory Willingham, a single by Puckett and a fielders choice RBI by Westbrooks.
- The Lady Bucs took control of the game with five big runs in the third. The inning was highlighted by a two RBI triple from Dyer, who scored on an error.
- After The W scored its three runs in the fourth, CBU ended the game with three of its own in the fifth.
GAME TWO: CBU 10 (8-8), Mississippi University for Women 1 (6-4) (5)
GAME CHANGER:
- In the fourth CBU scored seven runs, taking advantage of six hits and two walks.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- CBU outhit the hosts 10-4

Bree Brady led CBU at the plate finishing 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs.
- Elaina McGill also had a two RBI double.

Savannah Crockett had a multi-hit game and scored two runs.

Julia Schassburger started the game for the Lady Bucs, going four solid innings, giving up one unearned run on three hits.
KEY PLAYS:
- CBU scored its their first run, on an error in the third, before adding two more runs in that inning.
Brady singled in two runs, in the third, for her second hit of the game.
- In the fifth, CBU added to its lead on back-to-back doubles by
Dyer and
McGill.
Brady and
Westbrook also had RBI's in that inning.

- Brady had a season high three hits and tied a season high with four RBI's
