Lady Bucs Beat Henderson State, Split at McGhee-Hawkins Invitational

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Christian Brothers University softball team scored five runs in the seventh inning and held on for a 6-3 win over Henderson State, to earn a split on the final day of the McGhee-Hawkins Invitational, on Sunday at Dee White Field. The Lady Bucs fell 6-2 against No. 2 Texas A&M-Kingsville in the opener. 
  
GAME ONE:  No. 2 Texas A&M-Kingsville (8-1) 6, CBU (0-3) 2 
 
GAME CHANGER:
- The Javelinas took advantage of eight walks and six stolen bases.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Javelinas finished the game with an 11-6 edge in hits.
- Six different Lady Bucs finished with a hit. Ashley Dyer, Elaina McGill and Mackenzie Puckett each had a double.  
- Memory Willingham had the lone RBI for CBU. 
- Puckett went the distance, allowing six runs, on 11 hits, with eight walks. She forced Kingsville to strand 10 runners. 

KEY PLAYS:
- After getting a pair of outs in the top of the first, Puckett issued a walk to Anastasia Leibas. Matisen Onofrei then hit a ball to the left center field that was nearly caught by Kendall
  Westbooks, but went over the wall for a home run. 
- The Lady Bucs got on the board in the second when Puckett's double brought in McGill, who scored after a botched throw and catch at second. 
- CBU scored its second run of the inning when Willingham's infield single scored Puckett.
- The Javelinas scored what proved to be the game-winner in the third on a fielders choice RBI. 
- Kingsville added a run in the fourth, and two in the sixth to complete the scoring.  

GAME TWO:  CBU (4-4) 6, HSU (3-5) 3 
 
GAME CHANGER:
- The Lady Bucs pushed across five runs in the top of the seventh inning. .  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lady Bucs finished the game with a 7-6 advantage in hits.
- Five different Lady Bucs finished with a hit. Memory Willingham finished 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
- Savannah Crockett, Mackenzie Puckett and Willingham each had a double. 
- Ashley Dyer was 1-for-2 with an RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases.   
- McKenna Rose (3-0) earned the victory, going 6.2 innings, allowing three runs on six hits.
- Macy Cumming earned a one out save with the bases loaded.  

KEY PLAYS:
- HSU took a 1-0 lead, in the bottom of the second, on a solo home run by Czoey White.
- The Lady Bucs got on the board in the fifth when Crockett's batted ball was mishandled by the shortstop, scoring Dyer. 
- CBU rallied in the seventh, scoring five runs on four hits, including back-to-back doubles by Crockett and Willingham.
- HSU put a scare into the Lady Bucs, in the bottom of the inning. The Reddies sent nine batters to the plate, scoring a pair of runs on two hits. HSU took advantage of two walks and
  a hit by pitch. After Cumming hit a batter with the bases loaded, she got a weak groundout to end the game.
