MEMPHIS - The Christian Brothers University baseball team used a strong performance from starting pitcher
Travis Cole to earn a doubleheader split with the Lane College, on Wednesday afternoon at Nadicksbernd Field. The Bucs earned a 3-2 victory in the opener, but Lane held CBU to just four hits in a 5-0 win to earn the split.
Both games of the doubleheader were seven innings.
GAME ONE: CBU 3 (4-13), Lane College 2 (7-6)
GAME CHANGER:
- From the third inning, until the seventh, Cole retired 12 of the next 13 batters to help earn the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Bucs were outhit 5-3.

Garett Reason-Kerkhoff fled CBU at the plate going 2-3, with two singles and a run scored.

Ben Brocato went 1-for-2 with a single, stolen base, a walk and a run scored

Travis Cole pitched a complete game allowing two runs on five hits, striking out six with just one walk.
- CBU drew five walks.
KEY PLAYS:
- In the first,
Connor McTeer started the scoring with a sac-fly. The Bucs then plated a pair of runs, capitalizing on a Lane miscue.
- After a double in the third, Cole retired 12 of the next 13.
- The Dragons rally in the seventh fell short as they had the tying run in scoring position.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Cole had a season high six strikeouts.
GAME TWO: Lane College 5 (8-6), CBU 0 (4-14)
GAME CHANGER:
- In the third, Keishaun Clark launched a three-run homer over the right-center field wall to put the Dragons up 4-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- CBU was outhit by the Dragons 6-4.

Cameron Kroeger led the Bucs going 1-for-2 with a single, walk and a stolen base.

Keagan Voss, Reason-Kerkhoff and
Payne Smith had one hit apiece for the Bucs.
- CBU finished the game with nine runners left on base.

Garrett Dooley got the game 2 start for the Bucs, allowing four runs, three earned, on four hits, in three innings.

Kyle Raburn relieved Dooley in the fourth and pitched two innings of relief.
Garrett Stebbins-Johnson and
Blake Dallas also pitched in relief for the Bucs.
KEY PLAYS:
- After Lane took a 1-0 lead in the first, Clark extended the lead with his three-run home run.
- In the seventh, Lane finished the scoring with an RBI single.
- CBU left runners on in all but two innings, including the bases loaded in the seventh.

The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, March 7 when they travel to face Gulf South Conference foe Alabama Huntsville. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
