DSU Uses Fourth Quarter Surge to best Lady Bucs

CLEVELAND, Miss. - Delta State used a 31-10 fourth quarter surge to defeat the Christian Brothers University women's basketball team, 83-61, on Saturday afternoon, at Walter Sillers Coliseum.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
·      CBU kept pace with Delta State as it trailed 16-13 at the end of the first quarter. 
·      CBU answered back in the second quarter and tied the score at 30 heading into halftime.
·      DSU outscored the Lady Bucs 22-21 to take a 52-51 lead into the final quarter. 
·      In the fourth quarter, CBU ran into foul trouble, allowing Delta State to head to the free-throw line 15 times.
·      Delta State outscored CBU 31-10 in the final period, and secured the win.

KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
·      DSU was 30-of-50 (60 percent) from the field, including 3-for-3 (100 percent) from beyond the three-point line. 
·      The Lady Bucs finished the game 19-of-60 (32 percent) from the floor, and were 12-of-36 (33 percent) from long range. 
·      CBU hit 11-of-20 (55 percent) from the free throw line. 
·      Brynne Lytle finished with a team-high 18 points, along with four three pointers.  

UP NEXT:
The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Friday, Jan. 29  for their home-opener against Mississippi College. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
