Lytle's Record Setting Performance Helps Lift Lady Bucs Past Mississippi College

MEMPHIS -  Brynne Lytle scored a school record 45 points to help the Christian Brothers University women's basketball team earn a 77-69 overtime win over Mississippi College, on Friday night, at Canale Arena.  

Lytle's 45 points broke her previous women's basketball program record (34 points), and are now the most points in CBU basketball history. The previous record of 44 was set by Jeff Sanders (vs. Lambuth 12.9.78) and Luke Rudy (vs. Auburn Montgomery 12.15.18).

Lytle's 14 made field goals also set a CBU women's record previously held by Tanaeya Worden (13 vs Harding 1.22.09).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
·      CBU jumped out to an early lead as it lead Mississippi College 20-17 at the end of the first           
       quarter. 
·      The Lady Bucs took control of the second quarter, outscoring Mississippi College 14-7. 
·      CBU took a 34-24 lead into the locker room at halftime.
·      After halftime, Mississippi College closed the gap with a 19-13 edge in the third quarter cutting
       the deficit to four.  
·      CBU had a 47-43 advantage after three quarters. 
·      Lytle hit a pair of free throws, with 30 seconds left, to give the hosts a 62-57 lead, but Mississippi
       College freshman Rivers Futral scored five of the next seven points,             
       including a three pointer, with three seconds left, to send the game into overtime.   
·      In overtime, CBU got aggressive by drawing multiple fouls and cashing in at the free throw line,   
       going 7-for-10. This, combined with quality defense, helped the Lady Bucs earn their first win of
       the season. 

KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
·      Brynne Lytle shot 14-of-25 (56 percent) from the field, including 13-for-15 (87 percent) from the
       free throw line. She also added nine rebounds and three steals.
·      The Lady Bucs finished the game 25-of-71 (35 percent) from the floor, and were 8-of-29 (28
       percent) from long range. 
·      CBU hit 19-of-25 (76 percent) from the free throw line.
·      The Lady Bucs finished the game with a 22-10 advantage in points off turnovers.  
·      Karlee Bates finished with six points and a game-high six assists.  

UP NEXT:
The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, Jan. 30 against Mississippi College. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
