Lady Bucs Hold Off Mississippi College; earn Double-Header Sweep

MEMPHIS - After trailing late in the game, the Lady Bucs hit clutch free throws to hold off a late rally by Mississippi College by a score of 63-58 on Saturday afternoon, at Canale Arena.

CBU had four players finish in double figures as it completed the DH sweep of Mississippi College.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The defenses came to play as CBU trailed Mississippi College 15-14 after the first quarter.
  • CBU answered back in the second quarter as it outscored Mississippi College 16-11.
  • CBU took a 30-26 lead into the locker room at halftime.
  • After halftime, CBU extended its lead to six as it shot 12-of-16 from the free throw line.
  • CBU had a 46-40 advantage after three quarters.
  • The Lady Choctaws comeback fell short as CBU shot 55 percent from the field in the fourth quarter, giving CBU a 63-58 victory.

KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
  • The Lady Bucs finished the game 18-of-55 (33 percent) and 26-of-32 from the free throw line (81 percent). 
  • CBU had a 27-8 advantage in points off turnovers.
  • Brynne Lytle finished with a game high 18 points and went 10-of-10 from the free throw line.  
  • Julia Nicholson finished 4-of-9 with 12 points and 3 assists.
  • Darcy Doran finished 4-of-5 with 11 points and 6 rebounds.
  • Emily Jones finished the game with 10 points and a team high 8 rebounds.
