WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Christian Brothers University volleyball team dropped a hard-fought 3-0 decision to Florida Tech on day one of the GSC/SSC Crossover Tournament, on Friday, at AdventHealth Fieldhouse.
Florida Tech 3, CBU 0 (25-15, 25-18, 27-25)
WHAT HAPPENED: Florida Tech took advantage of 35 kills, eight blocks and 24 Lady Buc errors.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the opening set, the Panthers jumped out to an early 12-5 lead and never trailed en route to a 25-15 first set win.
- In the second set, CBU used a 6-2 run to take a 15-13 lead, but the Panthers took advantage of 12 errors, scoring 12 of the next 15 points, to earn the win.
- Tech opened the deciding set on a 13-7 run, but CBU responded with an 8-0 spurt to take the lead. Trailing 23-22, the Panthers took advantage of three CBU errors to score the final three points of the match.
KEY STATS:
- Lauren Ballard led the Lady Bucs with seven kills and nine digs. Maddie McGaha also added seven kills.
- Kimmy Hammond finished with 12 digs and two assists.
- KaLea Davis finished with 26 assists, six digs and three aces.
- Florida Tech had an 8-3 advantage in blocks.
UP NEXT:
The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, Oct. 23 for day two of the GSC/SSC Crossover Tournament when they take on Rollins and Flagler. The matches are scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM and 3:45 PM.
