WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Christian Brothers University volleyball team suffered a pair of setbacks on the final day of the GSC/SSC Crossover, on Saturday, at AdventHealth Fieldhouse. The Lady Bucs opened the day with a 3-0 loss to Rollins, and finished the night by falling 3-0 to Flagler.
Rollins College 3, CBU 0 (25-16, 25-11, 25-14)
WHAT HAPPENED: Rollins hit .376, while the Lady Bucs finished hitting just .075. The Tars finished with 40 kills, 11 aces and four blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the opening set, the Tars jumped out to an early 14-5 lead and never trailed en route to a 25-16 first set win.
- In the second set, Rollins never trailed and used a .407 hitting percentage to take the set 25-11.
- Rollins opened the deciding set on a 13-7 run and scored 12 of the last 19 points to take the final set.
KEY STATS:
- Maddie McGaha led the Lady Bucs with seven kills and one ace.
- Kolbi Reed added six kills and six digs.
- KaLea Davis finished with 18 assists.
- Lauren Ballard collected eight digs and four kills.
- Rollins finished with an 11-2 advantage in aces.
Flagler College 3, CBU 0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-16)
WHAT HAPPENED: The Saints recorded a .571 hitting percentage in the opening set, .326 for the match, and took advantage of 39 kills and eight blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the first set, the Saints hit .571 and cruised its way to a 25-14 win.
- Flagler closed the second set on a 7-2 run to take a 2-0 advantage in the match.
- After a 7-7 start, the Saints took advantage of nine CBU errors to help earn the sweep.
KEY STATS:
- Kolbi Reed led the Lady Bucs with nine kills, a match-high 15 digs, two aces and two assists.
- Maddie McGaha finished with seven kills and one ace.
- KaLea Davis collected 20 assists and five digs.
- Flagler finished with an 8-1 advantage in blocks.
