No. 16 Lee Uses Big Second Half to Defeat Lady Bucs

MEMPHIS -  No. 16 Lee outscored the Christian Brothers University women's basketball team 59-36 in the second half, in a 75-63 win, on Saturday afternoon, at Canale Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Lady Bucs forced four Lee turnovers, and held the Lady Flames to 2-of-15 shooting to take an 11-8 lead after the first quarter.
  • The Lady Bucs continued their strong defensive performance by holding Lee to just 2-of-14 from the field to take a 27-16 lead into halftime. The Lady Bucs held Lee to just four made field-goals in the opening half. 
  • In the third quarter, CBU expanded its lead to 17 (37-20), but Lee responded with a 15-2 run to cut the deficit to three. CBU led 54-50 after three quarters.
  • With 5:32 remaining in the fourth, All-GSC guard, Haley Schubert, gave Lee a 60-59 lead with her third three-pointer of the game.
  • Lee finished the game on a 15-4 run to help complete the comeback victory.
KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
  • Emily Jones finished with a team-high 17 points, seven rebounds, and a season-high four assists.
  • Karlee Bates added a season-high 11 points and dished three assists.
  • Chloe Crawford had nine points on 3-of-4 shooting from three-point range.
  • Schubert converted 11-of-12 free throw attempts, and finished with a game-high 28 points. 
  • CBU held Lee to just 37 percent from the floor (24-of-65), including 6-of-20 from beyond the three point line. 
  • The Lady Bucs were outscored 25-9 in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Thursday, Dec. 9 to face non-conference University of Missouri-St. Louis. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
