CARROLLTON, Ga. – The Christian Brothers University softball team dropped a pair of contests at West Georgia, on Saturday, at University Field. The Wolves held on or a 5-3 win in the opener, and stormed back for a 15-7 (6) victory in the nightcap.
After seeing its original opening weekend canceled, this series was the first of the year for CBU.
GAME ONE: UWG 5 (3-1, 1-0 GSC) CBU 3 (0-1, 0-1 GSC)
GAME CHANGER:
- UWG took advantage of a pair of CBU miscues, scoring two unearned runs.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Each team finished the game with six hits.
- Six CBU players had one hit.

Bree Brady had an RBI triple and Gabby Shultz smacked the first home run of her CBU career.

Memory Willingham drove in the other CBU run, via sac bunt.

McKenna Rose pitched a complete game, allowing just three unearned runs on six hits.
KEY PLAYS:
- The sac bunt by Willingham put CBU up 1-0 in the first.
- UWG plated three in the second, when it took advantage of a CBU error.
- CBU got to within 3-2, in the third, when Brady's triple scored Willingham.
- UWG added a run in the fourth and the fifth.
- Shultz cut the UWG lead to 5-3, in the sixth, when she smacked a home run to left center.
- The Lady Bucs left the go-ahead runners on board, as UWG pitcher Lexi Close got a strikeout to end the game.
GAME TWO: UWG 15 (4-1, 2-0 GSC) CBU 7 (0-2, 0-2 GSC)
GAME CHANGER:
- After CBU scored four runs, to take a 6-4 lead, in the fourth, the Wolves responded with seven of their own.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lady Bucs were outhit 18-5.

Kendall Westbrooks had three of the five CBU hits.

Ashley Dyer reached base safely in all five trips, recording three walks and two hit by pitch. She also scored a pair of runs.

Memory Willingham drove in a pair of runs, via fielders choice and a ground out.

KEY PLAYS:
- Dyer scored the first run of the game on an RBI groundout by Willingham.
- Trailing 4-2, in the fourth, the Lady Bucs used a pair of bases loaded walks, a fielders choice RBI and an RBI single by Westbrooks to take a 6-4 lead.
- UWG exploded for seven runs in the bottom half of the inning, taking advantage of a grand slam.
- After the Wolves added two more in the fifth, CBU finished its scoring with an RBI single by
Caroline Gross.
- UWG ended the game with two more runs in the sixth.
