Lytle's 29 Points Not Enough, as Lady Bucs Fall To Union

Memphis, Tenn. - Brynne Lytle scored 29 points, but the Christian Brothers University women's basketball team dropped a frantically paced 97-79 decision to Union, on Friday, at Canale Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Lady Bucs trailed early as Union opened on an 11-0 run, but rallied back to trail 26-20 at the end of the first quarter.
  • Union picked up where it left off, as it shot 67 percent (10-for-15) in the second, and lead by as many as 15 points.
  • Lady Bucs trailed 50-39 at the half.
  • The Lady Bulldogs continued their scoring output, especially in the paint, in the third as they lead 70-61 after three quarters.
  • In the final quarter, the Lady Bucs cut the deficit to 74-67, but were unable to complete the comeback, as Union held on for the win.

KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
  • Union pounded the ball inside, outscoring CBU 50-16 in the paint.
  • The Lady Bucs finished the game 25-for-55 from the field (46 percent), and 10-of-24 (42 percent) from three point range.  
  • CBU had a 16-6 advantage in second chance points.
  • Brynne Lytle finished with a team high 29 points and 6 rebounds. She was 4-for-9 from three point range and 7-of-9 from the free throw line.
  • Darcy Doran tied a career-high with 15 points, along with a team high 6 rebounds.
  • Emily Jones and Julia Nicholson rounded out the double digit scorers for the Lady Bucs.
  • Shanique Lucas, of Union, finished 12-of-21 with 32 points and 9 rebounds.
