MEMPHIS – Visiting Montevallo combined for 21 hits to help give it a doubleheader sweep over the Christian Brothers University softball team, on Friday afternoon, at St. Benedict at Auburndale High School. The Falcons took the opener 7-1, and earned the sweep with a 12-3 victory in game two.
GAME ONE: Montevallo 7 (9-9, 4-5 GSC) CBU 1 (1-11, 1-9 GSC)
GAME CHANGER:
- The Falcons scored five combined runs in the first two innings, and didn't look back.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Montevallo finished the game with an 9-5 advantage in hits.
- The Falcons had five extra base hits, including a pair of home runs.

Kendall Westbrooks led CBU, going 2-for-2 with a double and a home run.

Josie Bond also had a pair of hits for the Lady Bucs.
KEY PLAYS:
- The Falcons jumped on top 2-0 in the opening frame when they recorded a home run and an RBI single.
- Montevallo added to its lead with three more in the second.
- The solo home run by Westbrooks, in the fourth inning, cut the lead to 5-1.
- Montevallo added one run apiece in the sixth and seventh to finish the scoring.
GAME TWO: Montevallo 7 (9-9, 4-5 GSC) CBU 1 (1-11, 1-9 GSC)
GAME CHANGER:
- Montevallo finished with 12 hits and took advantage of four CBU miscues. Six Montevallo runs were unearned.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Montevallo finished the game with an 12-5 edge in hits.
- CBU had a season-high three home runs.

KEY PLAYS:
- After Montevallo plated four in the first inning, CBU got one back when
Bree Brady scored on a wild pitch.
- With Montevallo leading 6-1 in the fourth, the Lady Bucs scored a pair to cut into the lead.
Savannah Crockett and
Josie Bond had RBIs in the inning.
- The Falcons added a run in the fifth, and took control of the game with two in the sixth, before finishing the scoring with three in the seventh.

The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, March 13 when they wrap up the series with Montevallo. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
