Pitching Shines as Bucs Fall To No. 13 West Florida

PENSACOLA – Strong pitching performances by starters Jonathan Baldelli and Blake Dallas were not enough as the #13 West Florida walked off twice to defeat the Christian Brothers University baseball team, on Saturday afternoon, at Jim Spooner Field. The Argonauts earned a 3-2 victory in both games of the double header.

Senior Blake Dallas set a new career high with 11 strikeouts.

GAME ONE: UWF 3 (15-5, 14-5 GSC) CBU 2 (2-14, 2-14 GSC) (9)
 
GAME CHANGER:
- Dylan Menhennett, of UWF, went 3-for-4 with two home-runs and three RBI's.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Argonauts finished the game with an 7-6 edge in hits.
- Keagan Voss went 3-for-3 with a run scored, his third multi-hit game of the season.
- Jaime Soto went 1-for-4 with a two run homer in the contest.
- CBU game one starter, Jonathan Baldelli threw 8.1 innings, while tying a career high with seven strikeouts.

KEY PLAYS:
- The Bucs got on the board early with a big two-run homer by Jaime Soto to take a 2-0 lead.
- In the bottom of the first, Dylan Menhennett, of West Florida, cut the Bucs lead in half with an RBI single, still trailing 2-1.
- With one out in the fourth, Menhennett launched a solo home-run to tie the game 2-2.
- Menhennett came to the plate in the ninth and on the first pitch launched a walk-off home-run to right field to give the Argonauts a 3-2 win in game one.

NOTEABLES:
- Soto's home-run was the second of his career, his first since 2018.

GAME CHANGER:
- Cullan O'Shea, of UWF, hit a walk-off homer off Bucs reliever Jackson Lyons in the eleventh inning.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Argonauts finished the game with a 7-5 advantage in hits. 
- Luke Wewers went 1-for-3 with an RBI single.
- Pitch-hitter, Antonio Fernandez, went 1-for-1 with a go-ahead RBI single in the eleventh.
- Blake Dallas struck out a career high 11 batters.

KEY PLAYS:
- The Bucs got on the board first with two out RBI single by Luke Wewers to take an early 1-0 lead.
- The Argonauts responded in the sixth with a two out RBI single by Menhennett to tie the score 1-1.
- Neither team scored in the next three innings as the game went to extras.
- In the tenth, the Argonauts had a chance to walk it off, but the Bucs threw the winning run out at home as the game remained tied 1-1.
- In the top of the eleventh, Antonio Fernandez hit a pinch hit go ahead RBI single with two outs to score Keagan Voss and regain the lead 2-1.
- In the bottom of the eleventh, Cullan O'Shea came up with a runner on a smashed a walkoff two-run homer to right field to give the Argonauts the 3-2 victory.

The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Sunday, March 21 for final game of their series against No. 13 West Florida. First pitch is scheduled for 1pm.
