No. 14 Alabama Huntsville Uses Big Inning to Defeat Lady Bucs

MEMPHIS – No. 14 Alabama Huntsville scored six runs in the third inning, and held on for an 8-4 victory over the Christian Brothers University softball team, on Sunday, at St. Benedict at Auburndale High School.

GAME CHANGER:
- Alabama Huntsville led 5-1 halfway through the contest and held on for the win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- UAH finished the game with an 12-4 advantage in hits.
- The Chargers took advantage of eight stolen bases.
- CBU finished the game with a pair of extra base hits.
- Mackenzie Puckett hit her first double of the season, and Gabby Schultz smacked her third home run of the season. 
- CBU left 10 runners on base.

KEY PLAYS:
- UAH sent 10 batters to the plate in the third inning, and plated three of the six runs on a three-RBI double by Lila Young.
- The Lady Bucs answered back in the bottom half of the inning when Gabby Schultz hit a three-run home run.
- After UAH added a pair of runs in the fourth, CBU took advantage of an error, in the fifth, to make it 8-4.
- CBU had a chance to cut into the lead in the sixth, but Schultz lined out to left with the bases loaded.

NOTEABLES:
- The Lady Bucs rank fifth in the league with 10 home runs, which is just two less than their 2020 total (26 games).

- The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, March 13 when they host (*to be played at Saint Benedict at Auburndale HS) Montevallo for a Gulf South Conference
