JACKSON, Tenn. – The Christian Brothers University baseball rallied late to earn a double-header split with GSC conference foe Union University, on Saturday afternoon, at Fesmire Field. CBU fell 7-5 in the opener, and came back to win 4-3 in the nightcap.
Game two starting pitcher
Blake Dallas went eight innings, allowing three unearned runs, on seven hits with 11 strikeouts.
Hayden Edwards and
Jackson Lyons combined to retire the final three Union hitters.
GAME ONE: UNION 7 (12-19, 10-18 GSC) CBU 5 (4-26, 2-25 GSC)
GAME CHANGER:
Bulldogs pitching struck out 11 batters.

CBU outhit Union 10-7.
Ben Brocato led the Bucs, going 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs.
Antonio Fernandez and
Jamarion White also had multi-hit games.
Andrew Balldelli doubled to give CBU its lone extra-base hit.
UU starting pitcher Walker Adkisson allowed three runs, none earned, on six hits with 11 strikeouts in 6.0 innings.
CBU starting pitcher
Jonathan Baldelli allowed seven runs, five earned, on seven hits with four strikeouts in 5.1 innings.
KEY PLAYS:
CBU got on the board first after capitalizing on a Bulldog miscue to take an early 1-0 lead.
The Bulldogs answered back with four runs on three hits to lead 4-1.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Bulldogs capitalized on a Bucs miscue to lead 7-1 after six.
Trailing 7-1 in the seventh, the Bucs took advantage of two Bulldog errors to cut the deficit to 7-5.
In the seventh, Bulldogs brought in reliever Ryan Middleton who pitched 2.1 scoreless innings and earned his first save of the season.
CBU had the go-ahead run at the plate in the ninth, but could not complete the comeback.

GAME CHANGER:
With Union leading 3-2 after eight,
Andrew Baldelli tied the game with an RBI single, before
Ben Brocato walked in the go-ahead run.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
Union outhit the Bucs 8-7.
Ben Brocato led CBU hitters, as he finished 2-for-4 with an RBI walk.
Garett Reason-Kerkhoff and
Andrew Baldelli both had an RBI.
UU starting pitcher Luke Williamson allowed two runs, on four hits with 12 strikeouts in 7.0 innings.
KEY PLAYS:
After three scoreless innings, the Bulldogs knocked in the first run of the game with a sac-fly.
After the Bucs tied the game in the sixth, they scored the go-ahead run on a wild-pitch to take a 2-1 lead.
The Bulldogs answered with two runs in the bottom of the sixth after taking advantage of a Bucs miscue.
In the ninth, the Bucs scored two runs off Union reliever, Ryan Middleton, to take a 4-3 lead.
