ROME, Ga. - The Christian Brothers University softball team scored a season-high 21 runs, over two games, in a doubleheader sweep of Shorter, on Friday, at Alto Park.

Macy Cumming tossed a complete game shutout, striking out eight while allowing just five hits.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
The Lady Bucs finished with a 7-5 advantage in hits.
Three CBU hits were for extra bases, including three doubles.
The Lady Bucs had four stolen bases.
Ashley Dyer led CBU at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles.

Bree Brady and Cumming all finished with a pair of RBIs each.
CBU took advantage of three Shorter errors.

CBU opened the scoring in the second, when it plated three runs on an RBI double by
Elaina McGill and a two-RBI double by Dyer.
Shorter loaded the bases with one out in the third, but Cumming recorded back-to-back outs to end the threat.
The Lady Bucs added three runs in the fourth on a bases loaded walk by Westbrooks and a two RBI single by Brady.
CBU plated four insurance runs in the seventh to finish the scoring.

The Lady Bucs outhit Shorter 9-7
CBU finished with a season-high four doubles, and tied its season-best with three home runs.
Ashley Dyer and
Bree Brady finished with a double and a home run.
Mackenzie Puckett also added a home run.
Josie Bond was 1-for-2 with a two-RBI triple and two runs scored.
Savannah Crockett and
Elaina McGill added one double apiece.
Puckett started in the circle, allowing three runs, on six hits, in 3.2 innings.
Kelsey Wurm allowed one hit in 1.1 innings.
KEY PLAYS:
After Dyer started off the game with a home run, Brady made it 3-0 when she smacked a two-run homer.
In the third CBU made it 6-0, using a sac fly from
Gabby Schultz, a home run from Puckett and an RBI double from McGill.
Shorter scored its lone runs of the day when it plated three in the fourth.
The Lady Bucs put the game away with five runs in the fifth inning that was highlighted by the two-RBI triple by Bond and a Dyer's RBI double.Â
NOTEABLES:
With the doubleheader sweep of Shorter, the Lady Bucs earned their first GSC series win since 2016.
CBU has now won five GSC contests, which is its most league victories since 2013 (seven).
CBU finished with a season-high four doubles, and tied its season-best with three home runs.
The triple for Bond was the first of her career.
