MEMPHISÂ - No. 2Â Valdosta State powered its way to a Gulf South Conference doubleheader sweep over the Christian Brothers University softball team, on Saturday, at St. Benedict at Auburndale High School.Â
The Lady Blazers took game one 15-0, and took control late to earn a 9-2 win in the nightcap.Â

The Lady Blazers scored four runs in the first inning, and did not look back.Â

Memory Willingham each recorded a hit for CBU.
Samantha Richards completed the three hit shutout and earned her 20th win of the season.
KEY PLAYS:
Valdosta State got on the board first, as it capitalized on three straight walks, to lead 4-0 after one.
In the second, the Blazers added four more runs, including a two-run home-run by Morgan Hill to increase the lead to 8-0.
In the fourth, Lacey Crandall hit a two-run double to left center to extend the lead 10-0.
The Lady Blazers sent 11 batters to the plate in the fifth, scoring five runs and extending their lead to 15-0.

Bree Brady, helped CBU open the scoring, Valdosta State responded with an RBI double to tie the game at one.
VSU scored two runs in the fifth, to take a 3-1 lead.
The Lady Bucs capitalized on a Lady Blazers miscue to cut the deficit to 3-2.Â
In the sixth, the VSU added an insurance run to increase its lead to 4-2.
In the seventh the first five batters reached base, and scored, to help the visitors tack on five runs.Â
After earning the win in game one, Samantha Richards pitched three shut-out innings, and struck out six, to earn her third save of the season. Â
