West Georgia Hits Way Past Bucs in Doubleheader Sweep

Carrollton, GA  – Jack Rasmussen, 15-strikeout complete game, and Joe Skinner, two home-runs, helped West Georgia sweep the doubleheader against the Christian Brothers University baseball team on Saturday afternoon, at Cole Field. CBU fell 16-6 in the opener, and were shutout 6-0 in the nightcap.

GAME ONE: West Georgia 16 (16-21, 15-19 GSC) CBU 6 (5-31, 3-30 GSC) (7)

GAME CHANGER:
The Wolves scored 12 runs in the final three innings.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
UWG outhit CBU 14-10.
Antonio Fernandez led the Bucs going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Jay White recorded his third multi-hit game of the year, going 2-for-4 with two RBI's.
UWG starting pitcher Robert Coleman allowed four runs, three earned, on six hits with eight strikeouts in 6.1 innings.
CBU starting pitcher Jonathan Baldelli allowed nine runs, eight earned, on nine hits with three strikeouts in 4.0 innings. 

KEY PLAYS:
The Wolves offense got going early, scoring two runs in each of the first two innings, to lead 4-0.
In the fifth, the Wolves took advantage of two CBU miscues, to add on six runs and led 10-0.
The Bucs got on the board in the sixth with an RBI-single by Antonio Fernandez as they trailed 10-1.
CBU rallied back with five runs in the seventh, including a home-run by Larry Hubbard, but still trailed 10-6.
In the bottom of the seventh, UWG scored six runs on two hits, as the mercy rule took effect. 

GAME TWO: West Georgia 6 (17-21, 16-19 GSC) CBU 0 (5-32, 3-31 GSC)
 
GAME CHANGER:
Wolves starting pitcher, Jack Rasmussen, struckout 15 batters in his complete game shutout. 
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
UWG outhit the Bucs 11-5. 
Antonio Fernandez led CBU hitters, as he finished 2-for-3 with two doubles and a walk.
Ben Brocato, Larry Hubbard, and Jay White each recorded a hit for the Bucs. 
UWG starting pitcher Jack Rasmussen allowed no runs, on five hits with 15 strikeouts in 9.0 innings.
CBU starting pitcher Blake Dallas allowed six runs, on 11 hits with seven strikeouts in 8.0 innings.

KEY PLAYS:
Both starting pitchers cruised past the first four innings, as the score was tied 0-0.
In the fifth, the Wolves scored three runs, including a home-run by Joe Skinner to break the scoreless tie, to lead 3-0.
In his next at-bat, Joe Skinner launched his second home-run of the game to left field, as UWG led 4-0.
The Wolves would score two runs in the eighth, as they held on for the 6-0 victory.

NOTEABLES:
Ben Brocato has reached base safely in 13 straight games.
