MEMPHIS - The Christian Brothers University women's basketball team trailed by as many as 14 points, but saw its comeback effort fall just short in an 83-78 setback to West Georgia, on Sunday, at Canale Arena.
Emily Jones led the Lady Bucs with 21 points, and
Chloe Crawford recorded a career-high 15 points.
The Lady Bucs made 17 three-pointers, which was one-away from tying the program record (18) set on 2.15.20 against Montevallo. Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Lady Bucs forced four West Georgia turnovers, as both teams shot 7-of-17 in the opening quarter. The Lady Bucs led 22-20 after the first period.Â
- UWG opened the second quarter on a 13-3 run, and took a 33-25 lead with 6:12 remaining in the half.
- The Lady Bucs scored 13 of the next 23 points to trail 43-38 at the break. UWG shot 48% in the opening half.
- UWG opened the third period on a 16-7 run, hitting six of its first 11 shots to increase its lead to 14 (59-45).
- The Lady Bucs were able to cut the deficit to seven (61-54) entering the fourth quarter. Chloe Crawford scored six points in the quarter. Â
- In the fourth, the Lady Bucs used an 18-9 run to take a 72-70 lead with 4:13 remaining in the game.
- With 2:53 left in the fourth, Jaylin Austin, of UWG, hit a fast-break layup to give UWG a 75-72 lead.
- With nine seconds left, CBU had a chance to tie the game with a three pointer, but UWG forced a turnover before the Lady Bucs could attempt a shot.
- In the final minutes, UWG held the Lady Bucs to 2-of-7 shooting to earn the win.
