Lady Bucs Earn Comeback Win Over West Florida

MEMPHIS - The Christian Brothers University women's basketball team outscored Gulf South Conference foe West Florida 28-16 in the fourth quarter, to help earn a 74-70 comeback victory, on Saturday afternoon, at Canale Arena.

The Lady Bucs have won two of their last three GSC contests.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • In the opening four minutes, UWF went 5-of-8 from the field to take an early 11-4 lead over the Lady Bucs.
  • The Lady Bucs finished the period on a 13-3 run to take a 17-14 lead after the opening quarter. 
  • UWF reignited its hot-shooting in the second, outscoring the Lady Bucs 23-15 to take 37-32 lead into halftime.
  • The Lady Bucs opened the third quarter with a 10-1 run to take a four point lead (42-38) with 5:46 remaining in the quarter
  • UWF finished the period with a 16-4 run to take an eight point lead (54-46) going into the final period. 
  • With 4:44 remaining in the game, Braylee McMath hit a fast-break jumper to tie the game at 63.
  • After being tied at 70 with 22 seconds remaining, the Lady Bucs went 4-of-4 from the free throw stripe to seal the comeback victory.
KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
  • UWF entered the contest in third place in the GSC. 
  • Emily Jones finished with 27 points (9-of-12 from the field). The sophomore was 4-of-4 from three point range. 
  • Darcy Doran recorded a season-high 12 points. 
  • Jeremia Montgomery added 10 points with a team-high eight rebounds.
  • Braylee McMath rounded out the double-figure scorers with a career-high 10 points, off the bench.
  • CBU capitalized with 25 points off 17 UWF turnovers.
  • The Lady Bucs finished with a 25-8 advantage in bench points
  • The Lady Bucs outscored UWF 28-16 in the fourth quarter.

UP NEXT:
The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Thursday, Jan. 27 when they travel to Montgomery, Ala., to face conference foe Auburn Montgomery. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
