Montevallo Uses Late Push to Defeat Lady Bucs

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - Montevallo outscored the Christian Brothers University women's basketball team 54-45 in the second half in an 84-80 victory, on Saturday afternoon, at the Student Activity Center.

Jeremia Montgomery led the Lady Bucs with 19 points, along with seven rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • In the opening period the Lady Bucs held the hosts to just 3-14 shooting to take a 22-14 lead. 
  • Montevallo outscored the Lady Bucs 16-13 in the second quarter, to cut the lead to five 35-30 going into halftime.
  • The Falcons kept it close in the first half by going 11-12 from the free throw stripe.   
  • The Lady Bucs grew their lead to seven (46-39) with 6:06 remaining in the third. 
  • Montevallo reeled off a 19-12 run to tie the game at 58. 
  • The Lady Bucs opened the fourth with a 13-3 run to take a 71-61 lead with 7:11 remaining.
  • With 1:30 remaining, Marisa Snodgrass hit a go-ahead three pointer to give the Falcons a 78-76 lead.
  • In the final minute, Montevallo went 4-of-6 from the free throw line to hold on for the win.

  • The Lady Bucs finished with 5 double-figure scorers.
  • Jeremia Montgomery finished with a 19 points, seven rebounds and two steals.The freshman shot 8-of-14 from the field.
  • Karlee Bates tied a career-high with 14 points.

  • Yaya Coleman added 12 points, six rebounds and four assists. 
  • Darcy Doran rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11 points and a season-high nine rebounds.
