MEMPHIS - Montevallo opened the game with a 12-0 and held on for an 83-81 victory over the Christian Brothers University women's basketball team, on Saturday afternoon, at Canale Arena.
The Lady Bucs had a potential game-winning shot fall just short in the closing seconds.
This contest marked the first game against Montevallo, since the Lady Bucs hit a school-record 18 three pointers on Feb 15, 2020.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After starting the game on a 12-0 run, Montevallo forced seven CBU turnovers, and held the Lady Bucs to 6-of-16 shooting to take a 23-15 lead after the first quarter.
- CBU answered back in the second, outscoring the Falcons 24-20, to cut the deficit to four (43-39) at halftime. CBU shot 45 percent in the second quarter.
- In the third quarter, the Falcons led by as many as 10, but the Lady Bucs cut the deficit to 64-58 going into the final quarter.
- The Lady Bucs opened the fourth quarter on a 10-3 run to take a one point lead (68-67) with 5:59 left.
- After a pair of free throws by Jordan Jones, Montevallo had grown its lead to seven (83-76) with 20 seconds remaining.
- In the final 20 seconds, the Lady Bucs went 5-for-5 from the free throw line, but had their potential game-winner fall just short at the buzzer.
KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
- Emily Jones finished with 26 points, five rebounds, and three steals. The sophomore shot 8-of-16 from the field.
- Jeremia Montgomery recorded 13 points with seven rebounds.
- Yaya Coleman added 10 points, all in the fourth quarter, with eight rebounds.
- Karlee Bates rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points, six rebounds, and six assists.
- Montevallo had a 49-43 advantage in rebounds.
