PENSACOLA, Fla. - West Florida outscored the Christian Brothers University men's basketball team 36-20 in the first half, and held on for a 71-58 win, on Sunday afternoon, at the UWF Fieldhouse. The Argos finished the opening half on a 22-5 run.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trailing 13-6, the Bucs used a 9-1 spurt to take a 15-14 lead at the midway point of the first half.
- After a Nick Deifel jumper made the score 18-17, with 7:22 left, the hosts finished the half with an 18-3 run to take a 36-20 lead into halftime.
- UWF shot 46 percent in the first half (13-28), including 7-12 from three point range. The Bucs made just eight of their 32 shots in the first half (25 percent), and were just 1-13 from long range.
- A layup from Daniel Loos, with 14:32 remaining, cut the deficit to 43-35, but that is as close as CBU could get for the remainder of the contest.
KEY STATS | NOTEABLES
- CBU bounced back to shoot 13-30 in the second half, knocking down 6-12 from beyond the three point line.
- UWF was 46 percent in the second half, and also finished 46 percent for the game.
- The Bucs were just 9-20 from the free throw stripe.
- CBU finished with a big 48-31 advantage on the glass.
- Darell Johnson led the Bucs with 11 points.
- Madison Monroe and Keeving Etienne added 10 rebounds apiece. The 10 boards are a career-high for Monroe and a season-high for Etienne.
