Lady Bucs Comeback Bid Falls Short at West Florida

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • UWF used back-to-back triples, and a layup to cap off a 10-0 run, giving it a 13-7 lead at the midway point of the first quarter.
  • CBU responded with seven straight points to take a 14-13 lead with 3:31 left in the period. 
  • The hosts scored the final eight points to take a 21-14 lead into the second quarter. 
  • Jaclyn Jarnot had 12 of the 21 first quarter points for UWF. 
  • After a Selena Pruitt layup cut the UWF lead to 25-20 the Argos went on a 13-2 run, over the next 3:30 to take a 38-22 lead. 
  • UWF grew its lead to 19 points, but CBU scored five of the final seven points to cut the halftime deficit to 46-30. 
  • The hosts shot 42 percent in the first half (14-33), and were also aided by 17 free throw attempts. 
  • The Lady Bucs stormed out of the locker room to open the second half, and used a 14-2 run that cut the lead to 48-44 halfway through the third quarter.
  • UWF then used a run of its own, outscoring the Lady Bucs 12-5 the rest of the way, to take a 60-49 lead into the fourth quarter. 
  • The Lady Bucs were able to cut the lead to five points with 36 seconds left, but UWF hit four of its six free throws down the stretch to earn the win. 
KEY STATS | NOTEABLES
  • The hosts finished the game 28-39 from the free throw stripe, while CBU was 10-13. The 39 free throw attempts are the most for a GSC team this season. 
  • The Argos outrebounded the Lady Bucs 48-28. 
  • Selena Pruitt and Emily Jones led CBU with 16 points apiece. Jeremia Montgomery finished with 13 points and a team-high six rebounds. 
  • Kallie Searcy and Darcy Doran added nine points apiece. The point total for Searcy is a career-high and a season-best for Doran. 
  • Jarnot led UWF with 33 points.

The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, Dec., 13 when they travel to Valdosta State. Tipoff is set for 5 PM CT.
