Bucs Drop Pair of Close Contests to Truman State

GAME ONE: TRUMAN STATE 4 (1-0) CBU 0 (0-3) (7)
 
GAME CHANGER:
- Truman State starting pitcher Zachary Schneider held the Bucs to just three hits in a complete game shutout. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Bulldogs finished the game with a 7-3 advantage in hits. 
- Van True led the Bucs with a pair of singles. 
- CBU starting pitcher allowed three runs on six hits, with five strikeouts, in five innings of work. 

KEY PLAYS:
- The Bulldogs scored a pair in the top of the first on a two-RBI double. 
- Truman State also plated single runs in the third, fourth and seventh inning. 
- Schneider retired the last 10 Bucs to seal the victory. 

GAME TWO: TRUMAN STATE 6 (2-0) CBU 4 (0-4) (7)
 
GAME CHANGER:
- The Bucs stranded 10 runners on base. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Both teams finished with five hits apiece. 
- Five Bucs had one hit each. 
- Antonio Fernandez led the Bucs with a two-run home run.
- Ben Brocato had his second double of the season.  
- Jarret Fowlkes and Van True both added an RBI. 
- CBU starting pitcher Sam Brumbaugh surrendered four runs, two earned, on three hits in four innings. He also finished with four strikeouts. 
- Relief pitcher Banks Caughman worked three innings of relief, allowing two runs on two hits. 

KEY PLAYS:
- Truman scored a pair in the top of the first when it capitalized on a CBU miscues.
- Fernandez tied the game in the bottom half of the inning when he smashed a two-run home run to right center field.  
- After Truman added a pair in the third, and fifth innings, CBU added a run in the sixth, but left the bases loaded. 
- The Bucs added a run in the seventh, but Truman relief pitcher Holden Missey forced a groundout, with the tying run at the plate to end the threat. 

UP NEXT:
The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Sunday, Feb. 13, when they close out the series with Truman State. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
