Lady Bucs Drop Pair to Close Out HSU/OBU Invitational

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Christian Brothers University softball team dropped a pair of games to close out the HSU/OBU Invitational, on Sunday, at Sully Anderson Field. The Lady Bucs fell 11-0 (5) to No. 20 Texas A&M-Kingsville before finishing the day with a 6-3 setback to host Ouachita Baptist.

GAME ONE: TAMUK 11 (11-1) CBU 0 (3-8) (5)

GAME CHANGER:
After a scoreless first inning, the Javelinas scored four runs in the second and five runs in the third inning. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
Kingsville outhit the Lady Bucs 9-2.
The Javelinas had five extra base hits, including three doubles and two home runs.
Josie Bond and Memory Willingham finished with the two hits for CBU.  

KEY PLAYS:
After a scoreless opening inning TAMUK used a two run home run to score four runs in the second. 
In the third the Javelinas sent 11 batters in the plate, scoring five runs on four hits. 
The Lady Bucs left a pair of runners on in the third and the fifth. 

GAME TWO: OBU 6 (4-9) CBU 3 (3-9)

GAME CHANGER:
The Lady Bucs were held to just four hits, but left eight runners stranded. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
OBU finished with a 10-4 advantage in hits. 
Josie Bond finished 1-3 with a triple and two runs. 
OBU had four doubles in the contest. 
Mackenzie Puckett went all six innings, and allowed five earned runs on 10 hits. 

KEY PLAYS:
After the Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the second, the Lady Bucs took advantage of an error to tie the game at one. 
With OBU leading 3-1 in the fifth, CBU scored a run to make it 3-2. 
The Tigers answered with one in the bottom of the fifth and two in the sixth. 
In the seventh, a sacrifice fly by Kendall Westbrooks finished the scoring.  

UP NEXT:
The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 23 when they host Trevecca Nazarene for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
