Mississippi College Pitches Way Past Lady Bucs

CLINTON, Miss. - Mississippi College starting pitcher Avery Barnett allowed just two hits in a 3-0 win over the Christian Brothers University softball team, on Sunday afternoon, at the MC Softball Complex. 

With the win, the Choctaws earned a 2-1 series win. 

FINAL SCORE: MC 3 (11-6, 4-2 GSC) CBU 2 (4-11, 1-2 GSC)

GAME CHANGER:
MC pitcher Avery Barnett did not allow a hit through 4.1 innings. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
MC outhit the Lady Bucs 7-2.
Memory WIllingham and Elaina McGill collected the CBU hits. 
The Choctaws had three extra base hits. 
CBU relief pitcher Macy Cumming struck out five and allowed just two hits in 3.1 innings. 

KEY PLAYS:
MC used a two-run home run to take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second. 
An RBI double, in the third, finished the scoring. 
The Lady Bucs left runners on in the sixth and seventh inning. 
The Chcotaws added a pair in the second and three in the third. 

UP NEXT:
The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, March 2, when they host LeMoyne-Owen for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is schedueld for 1 PM. This will mark the first contests at Bland Field since March 8, 2020.
