Harding Hits Way Past Lady Bucs

MEMPHIS - Harding scored 25 runs using 27 hits, including seven home runs, in a doubleheader sweep of the Christian Brothers University softball team, on Tuesday, at Bland Field. 

Harding took the opener 11-6, before scoring seven runs in the final two innings of a 14-6 win in the nightcap. 

GAME ONE: Lady Bisons 11 (23-10) | Lady Bucs 6 (10-21) 

GAME CHANGER:
Harding struck for six runs over the final two innings, including four in the seventh, to pull away and earn the win. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
Harding finished with an 12-7 advantage in hits. 
The visitors used eight extra-base hits, including four home runs. 
CBU had three round trippers in the contest. 
Josie Bond and Kiera Coulon finished with two hits apiece. 
Coulon, RJ Simpson and Mackenzie Puckett each hit home runs. 


KEY PLAYS:
Harding used a pair of home runs to take a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the second. 
A solo home run from Puckett, in the second, and Coulon, in the third, tied the game at two. 
After Harding hit a two-run home run, in the. fourth, RJ Simpson tied the game with a two-run shot of her own.

Leigha Harris drove in seven runs for the visitors. 
Ashley Dyer and Elaina McGill both hit home runs for CBU. 


KEY PLAYS:
Harding raced out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning. 
In the bottom of the first, the solo home run from Dyer cut the lead to 4-1. 
In the fourth, a two-run home run from Harris gave the visitors a 7-1 lead.
CBU took advantage of a Harding miscue to plate a pair in the bottom of the inning. 
Trailing 9-3, in the sixth, McGill hit a two-run home run to cut into the Harding lead. 
After the Lady Bisons exploded for five runs in the seventh, the Lady Bucs used a four base error to finish the scoring. 

UP NEXT:
The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 2, when they travel to face No. 3 Valdosta State for a Gulf South Conference series. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
