Bucs Make History in Series Win Over #12 Valdosta State

GAME ONE: CBU 13 (10-20, 6-11 GSC), #12 VSU 12 (20-8, 11-5 GSC) (10)
 
GAME CHANGER:
- With two outs in the 10th inning, Antonio Fernandez gave the Bucs the lead with a two-run single.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- CBU finished the game with a 21-11 advantage in hits.
- Seven Bucs recorded a multi-hit game.
- Matthew McDaniel led the Bucs, finishing 3-for-5 with four RBIs..
- Kelton Castillo finished with a career-high four hits and added an RBI.
- Antonio Fernandez and Keagan Voss added three hits each.
- CBU starting pitcher Sam Brumbaugh allowed five runs, on six hits, with a career-high seven strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work.
- CBU reliever Joseph Gibson earned his third win of the season, allowing three runs, two earned, in 3.1 innings of work. 

KEY PLAYS:
- The Bucs capitalized on a leadoff walk to take a 1-0 lead after two.
- In the fourth, the Bucs scored four runs on six hits to take a 5-0 lead.
- The Blazers recorded four straight hits to cut the deficit to 5-3 after four.
- The Bucs would combine for four runs in the fifth and sixth inning to lead 9-3.
- Jisjar Clotida tied the game at nine, in the seventh, with a two-run single.
- In the eighth, the Bucs regained the lead with back-to-back RBI singles by Keagan Voss and Jarret Fowlkes
- In the bottom of the ninth, EJ Doskow tied the game at 11 with a two-run single.  
- With two outs in the 10th inning, Fernandez gave the Bucs the lead with a two-run single.
- The Blazers had the tying run in scoring position, but Gibson forced a fly out to hold on for the win. Second baseman Van True made a running over the shoulder catch to finish the game.  

GAME TWO: #12 VSU 2 (21-8, 12-5 GSC), CBU 0 (10-21, 6-12 GSC)
 
GAME CHANGER:
- VSU starting pitcher Kevin Tomas threw a complete-game shutout with eight strikeouts.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- CBU finished the game with a 6-2 advantage in hits.
- Four Bucs recorded a hit.
- Jarret Fowlkes and Van True recorded a multi-hit game.
- Kelton Castillo and Alex Meadows each added a hit.
- CBU starting pitcher Garrett Dooley allowed two runs, on two hits, with four walks in 5.2 innings of work. Dooley did not allow a hit until the bottom of the sixth inning. 

KEY PLAYS:
- The Bucs had two runners on in the third and fourth innings, but failed to score.
- In the sixth, the Blazers capitalized on a lead-off double and hit-by-pitch to take a 2-0 lead.
- In the seventh, the Bucs had the tying-run on base, but Tomas collected his eighth strikeout of the game to hold on for the win. 

NOTABLES:
- The 21 hits are the most by CBU since 2007 and is tied for third most in a game in school history.
- The Bucs earned their first series win over Valdosta State in school history.  
- The three hits and four RBIs are a new career-high for McDaniel. 

UP NEXT:
The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, April 6th, when they return home to take on Alabama Huntsville in a non-conference matchup. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM.
