NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Christian Brothers University volleyball team earned a 3-1 victory to open its season, at the Ray Thrasher Classic, on Friday at Trojan Fieldhouse. CBU dropped the opener, 3-0, to host Trevecca Nazarene before bouncing back in the nightcap.

WHAT HAPPENED:
- Trevecca hit .309 and took advantage of 20 CBU errors.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Trevecca raced out to a an 8-3 lead and led by as many as 15 points in the opening set win.
- CBU led 11-8, but the hosts scored 17 of the next 25 points to earn the win.
- The Lady Bucs erased an early 7-1 lead, with a 15-12 spurt, but Trevecca held on to earn the win.
KEY STATS:
- In her collegiate debut, Maddi Rowley led the Lady Bucs with eight kills. Rowley also provided eight digs.
- Kimmy Hammond led the CBU defense with 11 digs.
- Tia Rizvi finished with 14 assists.

WHAT HAPPENED:
- The Lady Bucs erased a 1-0 deficit to earn the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- LMU used an 11-4 run to take control of the first set, and pulled away to make it 1-0.
- The Lady Bucs opened the set with an 8-2 spurt, and never looked back to even the match. CBU hit .417 in the set.
- CBU was just as dominant in the third set leading by as many as 12 points, while forcing nine errors.
- The Lady Bucs had 14 kills in the fourth set to help clinch their first win of the season.
KEY STATS:
- Maddi Rowley picked up where she left off in the opener, picking up a double-double with 16 kills and 15 digs.
- The 16 kills for Rowley are the most for a CBU player since Tia Rizvi had the same amount against West Alabama (10.8.21).
- The victory for CBU was its first on the opening day of the season since 2018.
- Tia Rizvi helped the Lady Bucs with seven aces and 35 assists. The seven aces are tied for fourth most in a match in CBU history.
- In her second collegiate contest, Calah Jackson added 10 kills.
- Rebecca King led CBU with three blocks.

The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, Aug. 27 when they wrap up the Ray Thrasher Classic. CBU is set to take on King at 9 AM and will wrap up the day with Carson Newman at 5 PM.
