Smith's Late Winner Lifts Lady Bucs Past Harding

MEMPHIS - Cheyenne Smith scored a goal in the 89th minute to help the Christian Brothers University women's soccer team earn a 1-0 victory over Harding, on Thursday at Signaigo Field. The game marked the home opener for the Lady Bucs. 

FINAL SCORE:
CBU 1 (2-1)
HARDING  0 (1-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
HALF | CBU had the best of the chances in the first half, as they had a 4-1 advantage in shots after a scoreless first half. 
89' | After both teams narrowly missed scoring the opener, Smith took a long pass from Lia Häggstöm, over the top of the defense and chipped the ball past the Harding goalkeeper. 

KEY STATS | NOTEABLES
  • CBU outshot the visitors 11-4. Both teams had four shots on goal. 
  • Chloe Hillyer had four saves, and earned her first career shutout. 
  • Smith led the Lady Bucs with three shots. 
  • Lilly Harrison and Hannah Ward had two shots each. 
  • CBU has now won nine straight contests over Harding.
